Father Wanted for Murder of Three Daughters May Have Planned Escape to Canada, Authorities Say

WENATCHEE, Wash. — A manhunt is underway for a Washington father accused of killing his three young daughters, as court documents reveal he may have been planning to flee the country in the days leading up to the tragedy.

According to an affidavit filed by the U.S. Marshals Service, 31-year-old Travis Decker conducted several suspicious Google searches, including “how does a person move to Canada,” “how to relocate to Canada,” and “jobs Canada.” He also reportedly visited the Canadian government’s official job site, raising concerns among authorities that he may be attempting to escape across the border.

Decker is now wanted on suspicion of murdering his three daughters: 9-year-old Paityn Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker.

The investigation began last Friday when the children's mother, Whitney Decker, reported that Travis Decker failed to return the girls following a scheduled visit. A search was launched over the weekend, focusing on Decker and a white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck believed to be his vehicle.

On Monday, authorities discovered the truck abandoned near the Rock Island Campground, roughly 20 miles from Wenatchee. Tragically, the bodies of the three girls were found nearby. Court documents indicate the children likely died from asphyxiation.

Decker, a former U.S. Army soldier with military training, is considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement agencies, including the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals, are working together to locate him.

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading directly to Decker’s arrest. Authorities are urging the public not to approach him.

“Due to safety concerns, do not attempt to contact or approach Decker,” officials warned. “Call 911 immediately if you see him or know his whereabouts.”
