Murder on the Platform: The Killing of B.P. White and the Violent Echo of the Bailey-White Feud

July 27, 2025

It was April 7, 1921, when Beverly P. White—once a sheriff of Clay County, now a prosperous farmer in Woodford County—stepped off a train at Heiskell Station near Barbourville, Kentucky. His intent was to change trains and continue on to Manchester to check on coal and timber interests. Instead, he was gunned down—shot five times in broad daylight by John Bailey, a known participant in one of eastern Kentucky’s most bitter family feuds.
What followed was a dramatic escape, a region on edge, and a judicial saga that would stretch years beyond the fatal gunfire on the platform.

"This is a story you don't want to miss," Publisher and story author Mark Hoskins said.  "It's another in a long series about our violent past that will keep you glued to your seat until the very end."
