Happy Thanksgiving
Turkey day is upon us. I don’t know how it got here so quick, seems like just yesterday it was Halloween. Time flies, the older I get.
I first want to brag on the Oneida Church of God. On my way to work on Friday, I witnessed a huge crowd benefitting from the food give away. I’ve never seen so many people in line. So I think that what they do for our people is amazing.
The rising cost of food puts the hurt on many preparing dinner for the holidays.
Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November. Abraham Lincoln declared the day a holiday. Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird.
Speaking of turkey, how about a few fun facts? Do you know what a male turkey is called? A Tom. Do you suddenly feel sleepy after eating turkey? Blame the Tryptophan. Break the wishbone of the turkey for good luck.
Cook your turkey to an internal temp of 165. Counting calories for your thanksgiving dinner? The average is between 3500-4500!!
Do male or female turkeys gobble? Male. Now that you know the facts, what is your favorite? Turkey or ham? Ham for me.
Sides? I definitely want sweet potato casserole and dressing. Oh, is it dressing or stuffing that you call it?
The most sought after dinner of the year is coming. Don’t forget amongst all of the delicious food, to be thankful. For family, food, safety, love and togetherness.
Count your blessings, they are many around the table. Happy Birthday to my papaw Lacy Abner and my cousin Riley Blu Sizemore on November 19 and my husband John “Shag” Garrison on November 21, that he also shares with nephew Raleigh” Moe”.
It’s a busy month! Have a safe holiday, wear stretchy pants and don’t even think about counting them calories.
Gratitude is the best attitude.
