Lady Tigers host Hazard Thursday, Dec. 7th

December 07, 2023

(MANCHESTER, Ky.) – Sitting at 1-1, the Lady Tigers have a tough slate for the upcoming week of 13th region basketball. One home matchup and two road trips highlight the week ahead for the Clay County girls. Below, each game is previewed.

Hazard (3-1) – The Lady Bulldogs are once again a strong team in the 14th region, and will no doubt be looking to knock off the Lady Tigers to continue their hot start to the season. Clay County knows the Lady Bulldogs are no stranger to a hard-fought game, as these two have went head-to-head each year for the last couple. Hazard defeated Clay last season 65-45 at home, so expect Coach Parks and the Lady Tigers to have revenge on their mind. Stats were not available for Hazard at this time. This game is December 7th, at Clay County High School, with tip off at 7:30PM.

Whitley County (1-0) – The Lady Colonels will play host to the Lady Tigers in the Colonel Classic on Saturday as Clay County seeks another 13th region win. Whitley County is a solid team from top to bottom and simply can’t be overlooked. They’re led in scoring this season by Madisyn Hopkins 15ppg, as well as Aubree Clemens 13ppg. If Clay County wants the win, these two must be slowed down.

Clay County spoiled Whitley’s season opener last year with a hard-fought 57-52 win, and will no doubt be looking to replicate those efforts. Can the Lady Tigers do it again? Tip-off is at 3:30PM, Whitley County High School, December 9th.

Pineville (3-0) – One of the 13th region’s strongest teams, Pineville is off to a red hot 3-0 start to their season, led largely by the efforts of Nadine Johnson’s 27ppg. Rachel Howard and Ava Arnett also average 17 per game for the Lady Lions, and the trio likely gives Clay County their toughest test to date. This game is at Pineville High School, December 12th, at 7:30PM.
