BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. — An arrest citation is shedding new light on the death of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer, whose body was found in a shallow grave earlier this week after an extensive search.
According to Kentucky State Police, Jayden’s mother, Felicia Gross, admitted to giving her son a type of sleeping medication, which she believed caused a fatal medical emergency. Investigators say Gross then placed his body in a plastic tote and buried it in a wooded area off Canoe Road near Joe Little Fork.
Troopers said the boy’s remains were discovered Tuesday and transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The citation also alleges Gross coached two of Jayden’s siblings on what to say during police interviews in the days before she confessed.
Gross is charged with manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, falsely reporting an incident, and witness tampering. She is being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
