Clay County Native, Former Tiger Standout Joins Kentucky State Police

MANCHESTER, Ky. — A familiar face to many in Clay County has officially joined the ranks of the Kentucky State Police.

Trooper Coty Arnold, a former Clay County Tiger basketball player and Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy, was among two new troopers sworn in this week through the Law Enforcement Accelerated Program (LEAP) at the KSP Training Academy. Arnold has been assigned to Post 11 in London, which serves Clay and several surrounding counties.

KSP announced the achievement Wednesday, congratulating both Arnold and Trooper William Carver, who is assigned to Post 8 in Morehead, on their dedication to public safety and successful completion of Cadet Class 106.

The LEAP program allows experienced law enforcement officers to accelerate their transition into the role of Kentucky State Trooper while still completing the required rigorous training.

Local residents who know Arnold from his time on the basketball court and from his service with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office say they are proud to see him reach this milestone and continue serving the community at a higher level.

The Kentucky State Police is currently accepting applications for both LEAP and traditional cadets for Cadet Class 107. The starting salary for new troopers is $69,500 annually. Interested candidates can apply at JoinKSP.com.
