MANCHESTER, Ky. — High-octane excitement is coming to downtown Manchester this weekend as Clay County prepares to host the “Battle in the Streets” racing event on Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6.
The two-day event, supported by the Clay County Fiscal Court, Manchester Tourism, and Clay County Tourism, is expected to draw racers and fans from across the region for what organizers are calling one of the biggest street racing showcases in Eastern Kentucky.
The competition will feature three divisions with major payouts:
Small Tire: $20,000 guaranteed
Extreme Street: $10,000 guaranteed
Second Chance: $5,000 guaranteed
Racers will buy in at $100 per entry. The first round kicks off Friday night, Sept. 5, with additional rounds and the championship set for Saturday, Sept. 6.
The event is being promoted in collaboration with “Bang That Light,” a popular name in racing entertainment, and Clay County Off-Road (CCOR).
Local officials say the weekend races are expected to provide a boost to tourism and local businesses while offering a thrilling experience for race fans.
“This is about bringing people together, filling hotel rooms and restaurants, and showcasing Clay County in a new light,” said one organizer. “Events like this are a win for both the economy and the community.”
Spectators can expect plenty of adrenaline as drivers battle for cash prizes and bragging rights in a competitive but family-friendly atmosphere.
