Hello friends! I hope everyone is doing well. It looks like the rest of the week is going to be beautiful, so let’s get out and enjoy it.
Our town may be small, but it’s mighty.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve spent some time watching social media, and honestly, it feels like it’s getting worse by the day. At one time, I’ll admit—I probably said too much myself. You could say I was a bit of a controversial figure. But over time, I realized it was doing me more harm than good.
Stepping back from social media was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
What I learned is that social media is not always a reflection of reality. It can pull you into negativity, arguments, and distractions that don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. When I stepped away, I was able to refocus on what truly matters—my family, my job, and my community.
It’s easy to find the bad in people or organizations. That’s what gets the most attention. But how often do we go looking for the good?
When something controversial happens, do we always have to comment on it? Do we have to pick a side every single time? We all have the right to speak freely—there’s no question about that. And if you need to get something off your chest, then by all means, do it.
But is it always necessary?
I don’t have all the answers. But I do know this—as someone who works in tourism and sits in a lot of meetings with a lot of different people, there’s plenty I could say about a lot of things. I’ve just learned that sometimes it’s better not to speak on every topic.
Not everything needs a reaction.
Our town needs each other. We need unity more than we need division. We are simply too small to be constantly at odds with one another. If we want to grow, especially in tourism, we have to present a community that works together—not one that’s always pulling itself apart.
That doesn’t mean we’ll always agree. We won’t. But disagreement doesn’t have to turn into division, and it certainly doesn’t have to turn into enemies.
Let’s move forward. Let’s focus on what matters. Let’s be productive. Let’s be positive. And most importantly, let’s support one another.
Because at the end of the day, this is our home—and it’s up to all of us to make it better.
Much love, Manchester!
