I watched a sitcom a few days ago, and it was crazy—nothing like I remember sitcoms being. It wasn’t funny at all, yet they still had that audience laughing in the background. It felt very mundane. What happened to regular TV?
I did away with cable, and now I only have streaming channels. It takes forever to find what I’m looking for, and honestly, I may switch back soon. I remember TGIF. Oh, how I lived for Friday night TV. More recently, Reba was my favorite. Now, if they’d do another show like that, I’d be on board! But TV has really gone to the dogs.
My husband and I were talking today about the work ethic of the younger generation. I’m not going to comment too much, because I have a young daughter and a son-in-law, but it’s different these days. Am I right? I feel guilty any time I use leave at work. If I’m deathly sick and absolutely have to take off, I still feel terrible about it. Not the younger generation—no sir. Earn ’em and burn ’em.
And I raised that generation. It was my generation that raised what we have now. I just don’t know what changed. We never wanted our kids to struggle—I know that. So maybe we made it too easy for them.
Looks like we had a little snow shower pay us a visit this afternoon. I’ll take warm over cold any day, but snow is always pretty when it’s flying through the air. My bestie, Tiffany Bowling, will be celebrating a birthday this month! And it won’t be long before we’re revealing the gender of my daughter’s baby. We are so excited for this new little life to come.
I hope you all are staying warm. I also hope you’re replaying shows like Sanford and Son, The Andy Griffith Show, and Reba. Today’s stuff is mostly garbage, I hate to say.
Enjoy your week, Clay County! Lots of new things coming our way.
The good old days are happening right now.
Every single thing you do today is something your 90-year-old self will wish they could go back and do.
