The Left Cannot Keep Having Its Way

Posted

As I sit and write this column the day after the horrifying assassination of Charlie Kirk, I’m mad. I’m mad that a good man, a Christian, a father, a husband, was shot and killed for standing up for what he believed in. And I’m mad because this isn’t just about Charlie Kirk—it’s about the America we’re becoming.

For years, conservatives have been told to sit down, to shut up, to not offend anyone. We’re scolded when we pray in public, when we defend traditional family values, when we demand that government stay out of our churches and schools. Meanwhile, the left marches through every institution—media, Hollywood, universities, and even our corporations—silencing dissent and dictating what is acceptable to believe. Now, when conservatives speak up, they aren’t just shouted down. Increasingly, they’re targeted.

Charlie Kirk believed in God, in America, in the Constitution. For that, he was labeled an extremist. He believed parents should have a say in their children’s education. For that, he was branded a threat. He spoke boldly about securing our borders, protecting the unborn, and defending freedom. For that, he was mocked and vilified. And now, tragically, he’s dead—because in today’s America, standing for those values makes you a target.

I am tired of watching the left have its way and its say in every corner of this country while conservatives are pushed further to the margins. We’ve been told to compromise, to be “tolerant,” to find “common ground.” But notice how the compromise always goes one direction. We’re expected to bend, to concede, to give up our traditions, while the left steamrolls its agenda without apology. Enough is enough.

The left tells us they believe in tolerance, but what they practice is intolerance. They scream about “hate speech,” but their definition of hate is anything that contradicts their worldview. They say they value diversity, but the only diversity they want is diversity of skin color—not diversity of thought. They claim to defend democracy, yet they cheer when conservatives are censored, de-platformed, and silenced. And when violence erupts, their condemnation always seems muted, as if to say conservatives brought it on themselves.

This country cannot survive if only one side is allowed to speak, if only one ideology is permitted to be heard. The very freedoms that our fathers and grandfathers fought for are at stake. Free speech, religious liberty, the right to defend our families and communities—these are not partisan privileges. They are American rights. But if we allow the left to keep defining the terms, we will lose them.

Charlie Kirk’s death should serve as a wake-up call. It’s not enough to be quietly conservative anymore. It’s not enough to whisper our beliefs at the dinner table or grumble in private. We must stand up, unapologetically, and reclaim the ground that has been taken from us. We must speak louder, organize better, and refuse to be intimidated.

I’m mad, yes. But more than that, I’m resolved. Resolved to fight back against a culture that despises people like Charlie Kirk, despises people like you and me. Because if we don’t, we won’t just lose elections—we’ll lose the very soul of this nation.
