Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Two Manchester Residents on Drug and DUI Charges

Posted

LONDON, Ky. — Two Manchester residents were arrested Friday night following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of drugs and signs of impairment, according to K9 Sgt. Dylan Messer.

Around 7:52 p.m. on October 10, 2025, K9 Sgt. Messer observed a vehicle driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Calvin Q. Napier, 61, of Manchester. Messer reported observing clear indicators of impairment, and following a roadside investigation, Napier was taken into custody for operating a vehicle while under the influence.

During the stop, Messer deployed K9 Jett for a free-air sniff of the vehicle. The police dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, prompting a search of the car. Inside a purse belonging to the passenger, Melena J. Henson, 49, officers reportedly found a baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a silver metal container with a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. A glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth was also discovered in Henson’s possession.

Both Napier and Henson were placed under arrest and transported to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Napier was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence (Substance), first offense.
Henson faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, First Degree (Methamphetamine), first offense; Possession of Marijuana; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possess).
