Hello friends! I hope everyone is gearing up for the winter storm. Apparently this one is really coming, and it’s a great time to be a grocery store—or a propane—salesman. Nonetheless, I hope everyone stays safe.
You know, being in this line of work and having to navigate a wide range of egos and personalities is one of the hardest parts of the job. Everyone has their own ideas and their own vision for what we should be doing. Some ideas are great, and some are terrible—depending on who you ask.
Some ideas are borrowed from places close to us, which can hurt the tourism aspect of what we’re trying to build. Some don’t recognize the word “tourism” at all. Others are so rooted in nostalgia that nobody shows up, because that particular age group simply doesn’t travel anymore.
But at least ideas are floating around. We went years without any ideas at all and very little to do. Now, people are trying—and that matters. Lots of people like lots of different things, so the key is to stay the course.
I hope that when my time here is done, I’m remembered as someone who shook things up and finally helped bring some progressive and truly cool ideas to life. Fighting the system a little, pushing forward, and helping create tourism—what else can a man want?
Much love, Manchester!
