Stella Steely, age 95, of Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, April 19, 2024 at her home.

Stella was born on October 13, 1928 in Oneida, Kentucky to Daniel and Florence (Ledford) Davidson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Davidson and Florence (Ledford) Hooker; son, Samuel K. Steely; brothers, Tommy Martin (Dorothy) and Daniel Davidson, Jr.; sisters, Naomi Jacobs (Henry), Opal Roberts (Vince), Elinor Spurlock (Grover), Minnie Clark (Bob), and Lois Meadows (Willard); brother-in-laws, Rexford Steely, Stanley Rex Steely (Mary), and Glenn H. Steely (Betty); and sister-in-law, Bernice Cordell.

Stella was a graduate of Oneida Baptist Institute High School and a graduate of Cumberland College. Stella was an educator for the Whitley County Board of Education for over 35 years. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.

Stella is survived by her husband of over 73 years, Paul P. Steely; son, Paul David Steely (Brenda); five grandchildren, Jimmy Bates, Beth Bates (Pam Bates), Hunter Bates (Jennifer), Paige Cotter (Daniel), and Chase Steely (Amanda); 18 great-grandchildren, Kristen Bowlin (Tommy), Brittany Morgan (Jeremiah), Bronson Bates, Griffin Bates, Manny Summers-Bates, Sophie Summers-Bates, Joey Jackson, Katie Jackson, Sammy Jackson, Hunter Bates II, Anna Bates, Miller Bates, Kycen Cotter, Skylar Cotter, Ace Cotter, Jarius Steely, Naomi Steely and David Steely; five great great-grandchildren, Blake Bowlin, Beckham Bowlin, Brooks Bowlin, Miah Morgan, and Hadleigh Morgan; brother-in-law, Brance Steely (Mary); sister-in-laws, Genevieve McGregor and Karen Davidson; nieces and nephews, Sharon Lynn Douglas (Danny), Roger McGregor (Melody), Jeffery G. Steely, Sarah Shelley (John), John Steely (Amy), Greg Buis, Curtis Buis, Rae Jacobs-Moore, Darlene Gay (Jimmy), Donna Hall (Randy), Karen Rice, and Dee Dee Leal; several great-nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral service was Monday, April 22, at the Main Street Baptist Church with Hon. Hunter Bates, Dr. Bill Wright, Dr. Jerry Lowrie, and Dr. Donnie Bruce Patrick officiating. Stella was laid to rest in the Perkins Cemetery on Browns Creek Road.

Pallbearers were Bronson Bates, Griffin Bates, Jarius Steely, Miller Bates, Manny Summers-Bates, John Stanley Steely, Joey Jackson and Sammy Jackson.
