Carol Jean Harrod Bolin was born on December 25, 1960, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Allen Floyd Harrod and Joyce Ann (Nelson) Harrod. She passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, surrounded by love and faith, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, ministry, and family.

Carol Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Kenneth B. Bolin, Jr.; her children Amanda Varney (Carl), Kenneth Allen Bolin, Andrew "Andy" Bolin, and Ruth Evrard; and her cherished grandchildren Gideon, Paul, and Silas Varney. She also leaves behind her dearest cousin and lifelong friend, Sandy Williams; her loving sisters Cheryl Harrod (Eddie), Elizabeth Schulte (Mark), and Teresa Miller; and a wide extended family and community who were blessed by her generous spirit.

For the past 23 years, Carol Jean faithfully carried on the Cuban ministry begun by her father. Through that calling, she built deep, enduring relationships with those she came to love as family, including: Yunior and Isabella; Nelson, Zoe, Luca, and Mateo; Suzanny and Ariel; Jorge and Mayelin; Ernesto and Erica; William and Ismarai; and Osiel and NeNe. Her love knew no borders, and her faith was a bridge between nations.

Carol and Ken were devoted partners in life and ministry. Ken was a loving and devoted husband to Carol and stayed by Carol's side throughout sickness and health. They served together across the globe, including trips to China, Russia, Ukraine, and especially Cuba. They made their home in Manchester for 35 years, where Carol gave her heart to the community. One of her signature ministries was an annual prom dress event, where teenage girls could choose a free prom dress, jewelry, have their hair and makeup done, and pose for pictures - all with love and dignity.

Carol also developed programs for young children to learn about the love of Jesus through singing, storytelling, and plays. Her creativity and nurturing heart were felt by everyone who crossed her path.

Carol cherished her role as "Nanny" and rarely missed a ballgame or the chance to visit "Dobbywood," where she and Ken would ride the train with the grandkids and make lifelong memories. She had a deep love for the holidays, especially the cooking and family time that came with them.

In her final months, she was lovingly cared for by her three children-Amanda, Kenneth Allen, and Andrew-along with her dear son-in-law, Carl. Together they surrounded her with laughter, conversation, and comfort. They took turns sitting by her side, preparing meals, and making sure she was never alone. With the constant support of her adoring husband Ken, they formed a circle of love around her, tending to her needs just as she had cared for them throughout their lives.

One of her closest relationships was with her cousin Sandy. Together, they shared countless adventures - from trips to Dollywood and Gatlinburg with their mothers, to travels around the world. Sandy was always ready to hop in for the ride, wherever it may lead.

Carol's life was enriched by many treasured friendships. Lavenna Quire who was her longest and lifelong friend. Carol and Lavenna were bridesmaids in each other's weddings and Carol was honored to be able to wear Lavenna's wedding dress for her own wedding. In addition, Carol's friendship with Christy Rice who supported the Cuban missions and generously shared her time, love, and delicious chocolate chip cookies.

In her quieter moments, Carol loved scrapbooking and crafting - always finding beauty and meaning in the little things.
