Mrs. Carolyn Sue Melton, age 78 of Manchester was born in Clay County, KY on February 23, 1946 to the late Carlo and Arey Crawford Hollen and departed this life on December 24, 2024 in the St. Joseph of London Hospital.  She was of the Pentecostal Faith and enjoyed gardening, farming, loved animals, caring for children, and time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, her husband: Johnny “Ed” Melton; a son: Carl Bowling; 4 brothers: Carlo Hollen, Shilo Hollen, Cecil Hollen, and Calvin Hollen; 5 sisters: Allie Wagers, Hazel Wagers, Jean Couch, Ollie Cole, and Cledith Riley; a grandchild: Samantha Bowling; and a great granddaughter preceded her in death.

Sue is survived by her loving children: Anneta Lucas and Rick, George Bowling and fiancé Heather, and Galen Bowling all of London, Angelettia Arey Smith and husband Tony, Whitney Bowling and husband Lyndsey, and William “Willie” Bowling all of Manchester, James “Jim” Norman and wife Sharron of McKinney KY, and Lexus Bowling of Hazard; 6 brothers: James Hollen and wife Faye of Walton, KY, Alvin Hollen and wife Catherine of London, Allen Hollen and wife Dianna of Manchester, John Ed Hollen and wife Lena of Bear Branch, and Roy Hollen and wife Sharron of Norris, TN; a sister: Essie Bowman and husband Junior of Big Creek; 14 grandchildren: Rene Norman, Nathan Norman, Rodney Bowling, Chris Bowling, Charity Bowling, Nick Bowling, Jordon Bowling, Ava Bowling, Isbella Bowling, Christian Carl, Connor Lucas, Erin Grubb, Kayla Osborne, and Jordan Bowling; 11 great grandchildren: Haley, Patience, Parker, Bailey, Tyler, Wyatt, Zoah, Steven Anthony, Eli, and Cheyenne; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Melton were conducted in the Bear Branch Baptist Church on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Donnie Melton, Rev. Tim Finley, and Brother Shannon Finley officiating.  Burial followed in the Hollen Cemetery with Rick Smith, Tony Smith, Conner Lucas, Nick Bowling, John Lucas, and John Hollen serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
