Dora Hicks Ridge, of London, Kentucky, was born on December 11, 1933, in Clay County, Kentucky, to the late Jesse Cas Hicks and Julia Hatfield Hicks. She was united in marriage to Delbert Houston Ridge, who preceded her in death.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her three daughters, Judy Farris of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, and Estellene Lichliter and Nellie Roark, both of London, Kentucky; her brother, Woody Hicks of London; her son-in-law, Ray Couch of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her sisters-in-law, Lillie Hicks of Pineville, Kentucky, and Pauline Hicks of East Bernstadt, Kentucky.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandon Farris (Tiffany), Kaci Farris, Kristie Shoemaker (Roger), Regina Sawyers (Wayne), Julie Hill (Dave), Danny Lunsford, and Adam Lunsford (Kellie); her great-grandchildren: Dalton, Blake, Bo, Abigail, Lincoln, Hudson, Channing, Samantha, Vanna, Courtney, Adam, Danielle, Shelby, Courtney, and Nick; and her great-great-grandchildren: Betha, Valerie, Mackenlay, DeAndre, Auntez, Spencer, and Lainey. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and dear friends who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dora was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Lichliter, Sr., her daughter, Brenda Kay Couch; her son, Arthur Lichliter, Jr., and his wife, Sheila; two stepsons, Jeffery Lee Ridge and Delbert Ridge, Jr.; eight siblings, Lizzie Sullivan, Clyde Hicks, Johnny Hicks, Sambo Hicks, Nannie Hughett, Victor Hicks, Emery Hicks, and Lonia Jones; four grandchildren, Pam Collins, Betha Ann Lichliter, Melissa Lichliter, and Travis Lunsford; and a great-grandchild, Logan Collins.
Dora was an employee of American Greetings and a member of Whites Branch Holiness Church. She was a talented quilter and seamstress who enjoyed making crafts and sharing her handiwork with others. A hardworking woman, Dora took great pride in farming, raising a garden, and growing beautiful flowers. She was also an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together. Above all, Dora cherished her large family and found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved.
Her kindness, strong work ethic, and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Dora Hicks Ridge departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 7 days.
The funeral service for Dora Hicks Ridge will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Hoskins and Austin Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Whitt Cemetery in London.
