Frank Henson, 78, of Billys Branch, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Feb. 13, 1948, Henson proudly filled many roles throughout his life, including husband, father, papaw, uncle and combat veteran. He loved the outdoors and found his greatest joy rabbit and raccoon hunting. When he was not hunting, he enjoyed caring for farm animals and hunting dogs, searching for ginseng, sharing laughter with family and friends, and making sure those around him knew they were loved. His playful spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Henson honorably served his country in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam with the 196th Infantry Brigade, Chargers. He took great pride in his military service throughout his life and was later honored as a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his service and dedication.

He was survived by his loving wife, Deborah; two daughters, Karen (Jason) Cox of Williamsburg and Kristy Henson of Manchester; and three cherished grandchildren, Gunnar Farris, Nicholas Lindner and Madelynn Farris.

He was also survived by Justin (Gwenyth) Smith of London, whom he loved as a son; siblings Margaret Woods, Elbert (Elaine) Henson and Alfred Henson; two special nieces, Melanie Estep and Megan Henson; special friend and family member Elaine Mills; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Edna Henson of Goose Rock; and brothers Chester Henson Jr., Cecil Henson, W.O. Henson, Sam Henson and Gilbert Henson.

Henson's legacy lived on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught and the laughter he shared. Though he would be deeply missed, his love, strength and joyful spirit remained in the hearts of his family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 24, 2026, at Heritage Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Roy Lane Woods, the Rev. Mike Gray, the Rev. Paul Mitchell and the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Marcum-Henson Cemetery on Left Fork Billys Branch Road.

The family received friends Friday, July 24, 2026, at Heritage Pentecostal Church prior to the funeral service.
