Orville Lee Cottongim, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Arbor Trace.

 

Born January 24, 1942, in Manchester, Kentucky, to Carlyle and Mary Jarvis Cottongim, Orville lived in this community most of his life. Orville worked as a painter/welder foreman for JM Hutton and Wallace Metal. He enjoyed fishing, camping and NASCAR. Orville loved spending time with his family.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Dargie, Donna (Mark) Pryor; son, Doug (Carol) Cottongim; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Sparks; Anna Wrenn, companion of 30 years and her family; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lunsford Cottongim; son, Darrell Cottongim; parents; sister, Jewel Pinkerton; and brothers, John, Oscar, and Golden Cottongim.

 

Visitation for Orville Lee Cottongim will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
