MANCHESTER, Ky. — A Manchester man was taken into custody Monday following a reported altercation at a local gas station that led to drug and threat-related charges.

Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson said Deputy Dustin Henson responded to a fight complaint at the Wildcat gas station, located at the entrance of North Highway 11, on June 9.

Upon arrival, Deputy Henson made contact with a male subject identified as Travis Smith, 29, of Manchester. During the interaction, Henson confirmed that Smith had an active warrant for his arrest in Clay County.

While conducting a search incident to arrest, the deputy discovered a small clear bag containing a crystallized substance in Smith’s left pocket. Based on Henson’s training and experience, the substance was determined to be methamphetamine.

Smith was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first offense, and third-degree terroristic threatening. He was taken into custody without further incident.
