Clay County Grand Jury Returns Multiple Indictments

MANCHESTER, Ky. — The Clay County Grand Jury handed down a series of indictments this week, charging more than a dozen individuals in cases ranging from drug trafficking and robbery to wanton endangerment and bail jumping.

-Nathan Short, 38, of Manchester, faces a lengthy list of charges including three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, second-offense DUI, resisting arrest, and being a persistent felony offender.

-Roy Gross, 70, of Manchester, was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance after allegedly possessing 7.10 grams of methamphetamine.

-Eli Combs, 47, of Greasey Branch, was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense, and as a persistent felony offender.

-Larry Owens, 44, of Marcum, was indicted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance after authorities say he possessed 19.63 grams of methamphetamine with intent to sell. He was also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

-Elizabeth Henson, 40, of Railroad Avenue, was indicted for theft by deception–cold checks after allegedly passing checks totaling more than $1,000 at Mike’s Quick Stop.

-Harold Wilson, 41, of Somerset, faces a first-degree robbery indictment for allegedly threatening to use a gun while committing a theft at a game room. He was also charged as a persistent felony offender.

-Timothy Byrd, 44, of Reed Branch, and Jacob Hollin, 45, of Gray, were each indicted for bail jumping after failing to appear in Clay Circuit Court on May 5.

-Jamie Allen, 39, of Greyham Branch Road, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (3.40 grams of methamphetamine), promoting contraband, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

-Amanda Ledford, 47, of Manchester, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroin).

-Michael Perkins, 63, of Radio Hill, was indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment after allegedly discharging a firearm toward Jerry Bowling in January 2025.

-Elmer Steve Smith, 52, of Curry Branch, was indicted for first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of wanton endangerment.

-Brandi Gambrell, 44, of Anderson Street, was indicted for second-degree assault after allegedly stabbing Henry Hazel with a knife in August 2024.

-Toshia Gregory, 33, of Lyttleton Road, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and DUI.

-Richard Gilbert, 42, of Manchester, faces five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly firing a .45-caliber pistol in the direction of five individuals in December 2023.

-Travis Lovins, 31, of Locust St., was indicted for bail jumping (two counts) when he failed to appear in court on May 5th.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Arraignments are expected in Clay Circuit Court in the coming weeks.
